Harrah’s Cotai golf course price tag revealed

Last month, Harrah’s filed a report with the US Securities and Exchange Commission that revealed how much they paid for the Macau Orient Golf course in Cotai, which is the second largest land back in Cotai.

Recall that when Harrah’s first made the announcement back in September, the South China Morning Post wrote an article that put a price tag of US$3-4 billion dollars on the land, which equated to about US$15-22 million per acre (see my full post here).

As soon as I saw Harrah’s purchase of 175 acres of land on Cotai in Macao, I couldnt help but wonder - how much is an acre of land worth on Cotai? We know an acre of prime Las Vegas Strip real estate is worth between $25-35 million dollars. But everything is cheaper in China so Harrah’s probably didn’t pay that much, right? Read more

Now all the big boys are here

Yesterday Harrah’s announced that they have purchased the huge 175 acre golf course on Cotai, across the Macao Studio City. I’m sure this didnt come cheap, and although Harrah’s talks about what a great golf course it will be, I’m sure they hope to build their own Cotai hotels and casinos in the future. Read more
