The incredible MGM Grand Macau has only been open for a few days and I’m already looking ahead to the opening of MGM’s Cotai resort. Since that project hasnt even been approved by the government yet, I am obviously jumping the gun a bit. But I can’t help myself, so here’s what MGM has said over the past few days about Cotai:

“In Macau, the MGM Grand Paradise partnership is in the process of negotiating with the government on a second site in Cotai. Separately, DW (Dubai World) owns land in Macau … which may present a location of a third development site”

“MGM Grand Macau is already looking at expanding its casino resort on Cotai and is waiting for government approval. Lanni said the company would look at building a smaller boutique-type hotel different to the gargantuan Venetian. “We are not going to beat them on size. We have to beat them on quality,” he said, adding his firm will continue to focus on the high-end market.”

And the company isnt stopping after Cotai:

“Lanni said MGM Mirage had also considered cooperating on non-gaming projects in Macau with Dubai World, a Dubai government investment fund. MGM Mirage also aims to expand elsewhere in Asia, including Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea and Japan.”

Note: Cotai Strip is a trademark of Las Vegas Sands Corp.
